There’s been some quite interesting electrified vehicle (EV) news in the past few days. Like the ongoing World Cup in Brazil, it seems like some things are simply upside down. Have a look:

Detroit Electric Minus Detroit: The Detroit Electric brand is supposed to be getting a revival, but the odd thing is that none of it’s Roadster-like electric car will be built in Detroit. Assembly will be in the Netherlands, the motor and batteries will come from Asia, and the body is based off of the British-built Lotus. Thus, a couple of bloggers are arguing that the US trademark office pull the name away from the revived company.

Audi A3 e-Tron Priced: The eagerly awaited Audi A3 e-tron is reportedly going to be priced at €37,900 in Germany (which would equate to about $51,500). However, when the plug-in hybrid hits US shores, the price should come down a bit for Muricans.

Envia_info

Envia + GM Again?: After what seemed like an Envia scandal and GM kicking it to the curb, I imagine that many of you thought you’d never hear from the company again. Either the world is upside down (am I in Brazil?) or GM & the US Department of Energy (DOE) have decided that Envia still has one of the most promising technologies in development. GM & Envia are reportedly teaming up on a $3.8 million battery research project that is getting funding from the DOE.

“Chevy Watt” Plug-in Hybrid Truck?: Speaking of GM, maybe it could use some Envia batteries in a slick plug-in hybrid truck called the Chevy Watt. You may say I’m a dreamer. But I’m not the only one.

Toyota Targeting Tesla? Right…: Some people seem to think that a slow, ugly, dirty, overpriced Toyota fuel cell vehicle is aimed at stealing Tesla customers. Hahahaha.

Mahindra May Use Tesla Patents: Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra is reportedly reviewing Tesla’s now-open patents. It could use some in its Reva electric cars.

Fast-Charging EV Stations For Lease: POD Point is reportedly offering a first in the UK, 3-year leasing of fast-charging EV stations. The offer on the table for British businesses brings the £1,000 price tag of such stations down to £50 per month.

1905 Electric Car Charging: Electric cars went through a slump for a few decades, but they’ve been around for well over 100 years. Enjoy the pic above of an electric car charging in 1905, and click on over to the link for a little EV history.

Tesla Panoramic Sunroof A Duh: Getting a Tesla Model S? The panoramic sunroof option may be a “duh” for you, or maybe not. Have a read and think about it.

Tesla Stock May Be Dangerously High: A Tesla enthusiast argues that Tesla’s stock price may really be dangerously, harmfully high. He urges you to step off the accelerator rather than jumping into a ditch.

Tesla May Get 5 Stores In Pennsylvania: Tesla can’t open up as many stores as it please in Pennsylvania, according to a bill making it through the Pennsylvania legislature. But it can open up 5. I imagine that’s enough for the market.

nissan-leaf-lot

Used Nissan Leaf Prices Fall Fast: The price of Nissan Leaf when used falls further than the average car. There are a number of reasons for that, and most of them have a positive spin.

Electric Harley-Davidson In Avengers: Harley-Davidson’s electric motorcycle, LiveWire, may hit the red carpet soon, as it’s set to star in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Pike’s Peak Results: Didn’t catch all the Pike’s Peak results this year but wish you had? This is the post for you. Didn’t catch all the Pike’s Peak results this year and don’t really care (like me)? This post is not for you.

Which American Muscle Car To Electrify First: Chris ponders EV leadership (or not) amongst American muscle cars.

Renault-ZOE-Lisboa

Test Driving EVs in Portugal: In part 2 of a series by Portuguese EV enthusiast Jose Pontes, Jose test drives the Renault Zoe, which he thinks drives like an upscale Clio, and the Nissan Leaf, which came with a much better sales experience. (Interestingly, Jose likes the interior look of the Leaf but not the exterior. It’s the opposite for me. But I do think the interior is acceptable.)

Shopping for BMW i3 & Smart Electric Drive: Jose moves on to Smart and BMW. He gets quite good customer service at both, the BMW i3 really rocked (as did its performance). But it’s the details that are interesting, isn’t it?
