Editor’s Note: This electric concept car may be the prettiest electric car I’ve seen yet. Absolutely stunning, imho. I really hope this thing gets built. It’s name is the MINI Superleggera Vision Concept and Chris has a lot more details, so read on:

The MINI Superleggera Roadster Is Electric Driving Bliss (via Gas 2.0)

The MINI Superleggera Vision Concept is what you get when the German owners of a British brand turn to Italian designers to create a lightweight electric roadster. And while too many cooks often spoil the brother, this European collaboration of carbuilders…

Very nice but I would want a couple turbos and a tank for gas or diesel.

That’s fine. Why don’t you visit a site along the lines of “dinosaursRus” and drool over last century’s technology? ;o)

A pretty toy for rich folks (not that there’s anything wrong with that). I want my Honda Fit EV!

It is a moral imperative that they build this car. Contact MINI and tell them to build it. And it must remain electric. I will definitely buy one.

Moral imperative? Yes! That are no EV sports cars (and, as I have mentioned many times before, the now-out-of-production Tesla Roadster never was one either . . . too big.)

This thing is drop dead gorgeous. I would argue there are no production EVs that are drop dead gorgeous (save for the very large Tesla S.) Small & cute ones? One or two. Funky cool ones? Sure. Bland ones? Of course. Ugly ones? Ugh . . . far too many EVs look like hammered sh*t. It seems almost conspiratorial that most end up that way.

But the Superleggera? If there is a MINI executive who is against producing it, that person should be fired now. If there is some marketing executive there who doesn’t want to bring it to the US or only make it available in California, that person needs to be sent to prison and forced to dig ditches in the hot Sun.

If it does survive the transition from concept to production, I hope not much is changed. Beyond a little perfunctory uglifying, the danger is that someone will decide it’s too small for the US market and bloat the dimensions. Don’t do it, MINI! Encourage fat people who want one of these to quit eating junk food and exercise!

I agree. There are several EVs whose looks I like. But none that right away made me think, “beautiful!”
