Tesla Job Fair Causes Huge Traffic Jam, Gets Canceled Two Hours Later
In a somewhat humorous turn of events, Tesla Motors recently held a job fair near its home base — the Tesla Factory in Fremont, California — that caused a huge traffic jam and had to be canceled two hours later because of the huge turnout. I don’t know if that means the event was a huge success… or a disaster.
I suppose that any company that can generate that kind of a response just with a simple job fair isn’t exactly kicking itself, though, right?
Autoblog Green provides some more info:
We know that when it comes to Tesla, every little thing has the potential to explode into the popular consciousness. Whether it’s the rare fire or a good conspiracy theory, any news is good news. But we thought that this was just true on the Internet. Turns out, even the company’s neighbors can’t seem to get enough. Case in point: a planned day-long company job fair that had to be cancelled after just two hours.
Lines were already long when the fair opened up at 8 am yesterday, according to local media. Then, things got so crazy that the Fremont Police Department had to send out two Tweets, asking people to avoid the area around Tesla’s Fremont facility “due to heavy vehicle traffic.”
After the cancellation, Tesla did offer up a bit of silver lining to those who had been unable to make it through the hordes to the event, tweeting out the following suggestion: “We urge those who we were unable to interview to go to http://www.teslamotors.com/careers and apply online.”
Well, perhaps not much of a silver lining, but more of a nice reminder. :/
Did any of our readers make it to the event? Any first-hand experience to add to the conversation?
