The BMW i8 is finally here, and DRIVE star Chris Harris flew to Los Angeles for a chance to get behind the wheel of his hybrid supercar. So hows is it? According to Harris, it’s every bit as awesome as we’ve been led to believe, though it isn’t quite perfect.

Harris is a fan of the ballsy turbocharged three-cylinder’s sound, which reminds him of a Porsche 911, and he absolutely loves the true-to-the-concept looks of the i8. He isn’t quite as impressed with the response of the hybrid system, though as lovely as he thinks the car is, he still finds it lacking a certain passion.

Then again, this is a man who regularly drives cars like the McLaren P1 and LaFerrari. So yeah, keep that in mind. Even so, some of his complaints, like the unclear dashboard display, certanly seem valid, and as great as the i8 looks and drives, it may lack a certain day-to-day practicality.

…because practicality is a concern in the BMW i8.
