Following up on its top position in February, the Renault Zoe easily took #1 again in March. The Bollore Bluecar made a strong surge to take #2, rising from 0 registrations in February and 81 registrations in January to 194 registrations in March. The Nissan LEAF inched out the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV for #3.

For the BMW i3, which came in at #5 in March and #4 for the year to date, there’s an asterisk because my numbers for the year-to-date registrations are not completely certain. I am very grateful that I was able to get two registrations reports from Avere France on electric car and plug-in hybrid electric car registrations (a wonderful service). Unfortunately, the plug-in hybrid electric car report didn’t have year-to-date registrations, only March registrations. I had previous registrations from months for most of the plug-in hybrids, but was missing them for the Opel Ampera and BMW i3. For the i3, I ended up pulling the remainder from the EV-Sales Blogspot, while I decided to leave the Opel Ampera total blank and am hoping to eventually get January and February numbers.

Anyway, that’s the difficulty with collecting registration/sales info in this emerging electric vehicle market. Again, a huge thanks to Avere France for providing me with reliable numbers for this important market.

We’ll see what comes next month, but for now, it looks like the Renault Zoe has a safe route to the gold for the year as a whole.
