In a massive sweep of announcements following the launch of their new ‘Space Frame’ wind turbine tower, GE have announced four separate turbine supply partnerships amounting to approximately 213 MW.

GE announced on their website partnerships with France, Scotland, Sweden, and Germany, following the announcements of their new wind turbine towers.

GE announces new brilliant wind turbine

First off, GE has secured an order for 44 of their GE 2.5-120 wind turbines which will supply 110 MW to Germany’s newest wind farms.

Secondly was an order for six of GE’s 1.6-100 wind turbines to Sweden for the Erikshester Vindpark AB (Erikshester Wind Farm), located in Vetlanda. This brings GE’s total wind energy total in the region up to 300 MW.

Next is the supply of 10 1.85-82.5 turbines for the Langhope Rig Wind Farm in Scotland which, upon completion, will generate enough energy to power the needs of approximately 15,000 Scottish homes.

Finally, GE is set to supply  27 2.85-megawatt (MW) wind turbines to several wind projects across France.

“GE’s 1.6-100 wind turbines are well-suited for Erikshester and for Sweden’s varying wind environment,” said Mårten Hermansson, chairman of Erikshester Vindpark AB. “We need our wind farm to maintain high productivity and GE’s wind turbines offer proven efficiency and adaptive abilities.”

“GE’s wind turbines were the right fit for the Langhope Rig Wind Farm site, and we are pleased to be working closely with GE as construction at the site progresses,” said Kirstanne McDowell, corporate affairs (wholesale), SSE Renewables, who will be operating the Langhope Rig Wind Farm.

GE count themselves as one of the world’s leading suppliers of wind turbines, and will no doubt continue to be so well into the future.
