Ecotricity, How I Love Your Ads! (VIDEO)
December 13th, 2013 by Zachary Shahan
In February of 2012, I wrote a short article about one of my favorite ads ever. The ad was a video from Ecotricity. Ecotricity and Good Energy are two awesome companies (as far as I can tell) that offer green electricity to UK residents… often for even cheaper than the UK’s conventional electricity companies! Those conventional companies are referred to as “the Big Six,” by the way (relevant to the video below). They’ve been raising prices pretty aggressively recently, and Ecotricity and Good Energy responded by freezing their prices. That’s what this sequel to that 2012 video is all about [note: you HAVE to watch with the sound on]:
I’m a big fan of Ecotricity and its style of advertising, which you might have gathered if you noticed that we’ve written at least 23 stories related to the company. But these videos take the cake. So clever, so beautiful, so cute, so well executed. In case you haven’t yet seen the first one, here it is again:
I think that first one is still my favorite, or perhaps tied with Mr. W:
If you’re on a serious video-watching kick now, also scroll through my compilation of the best global warming videos I’ve watched — there are a lot of them. 😀
Lastly, for a very interesting comparison of Ecotricity and Good Energy (and the Big Six), Lindsay Wilson has just published a great piece on Shrink That Footprint, but be sure to also check out the comment from Dale Vince, the founder and CEO of Ecotricity, which provides even more context to assist you in your comparison of the two green companies.
