The EV Quorum is an electric vehicle fan club that will soon host an event in San Diego, California. The event consists of activities such as lawn bowling, kid-friendly activities, and test drives for 6 electric cars, one of which is the Tesla Model S.

Participants that become members of the club will be allowed to test drive all six electric vehicles, but visitors can test drive the Tesla Model S for free. Notably, an invitation is required, but that can be obtained by registering in advance. The membership cost is $19.80, and it includes a one-year subscription to Electric Car Insider Magazine.

Whether or not this is intended to just be a fun event, it is worth its weight in gold, as getting people to test drive electric cars for the first  time will more often than not improve their perception of electric vehicles, and increase electric vehicle sales.

This is due to the fact that public perception of electric vehicles is much worse than the vehicles actually are.

Here are some more details from Green Car Congress: “‘There will be educational exhibits about electric cars, charging stations and solar car charging systems at the event. Non-alcoholic beverages and snacks will be available. EV Quorum organizers said that guests are welcome to bring their own food and beverages, but emphasized that this is a no-alcohol gathering whose primary activity is driving.”

This is understandable, considering that driving under the influence of alcohol is a very dangerous activity to both the drunk driver and other law-abiding citizens on the road.
