Our friends over at Clean Energy Canada recently put together a cool photo essay about the building of a wind tower. Very cool. I won’t steal their thunder, but here are a few of my favorites photos from that (all photos by Dax Melmer on behalf of Clean Energy Canada):

wind turbine tunnel

The work above takes place in Windsor, Canada. The company is CS Wind Canada. Haven’t heard of CS Wind Canada? Well, you’ve surely heard of the companies that will use these towers. They include the largest wind turbine companies in the world, such as: Vestas, GE, and Siemens.

“Tower production began in December 2011, and more than 300 employees now spend their days here cutting, bending, welding, and grinding steel into enormous tube ‘sections,’ some 33 meters long and up to 18 feet in diameter,” Dax Melmer writes. “Each of the sections can weigh up to 55 tonnes.”
