We’re less than an order-of-magnitude improvement in battery performance away from electric vehicles with mass appeal. Once battery prices halve and range doubles, EV’s will be selling by the hundred thousand.
Considering the large number of battery technology startups working on the problem, it seems reasonable to expect this performance level in less than five years.

In US all forms of plugins captured 0.75% of the the market – best month ever.

In Norway pure EV captured 6% of the market in August – also new record.

I think it’s a bit early to start comparing EV and ICEV sales numbers. Right now what is important is that more EVs /PHEVs are getting out into the public so that less adventurous people can get familiar with them.

Supposedly August was a huge auto sales month in general. Did the increase in the various forms of EVs do better than the increase in SUV and pickup sales? I’m skeptical, that our way of thinking is catching on.

And its really tough to compare EVs (except maybe traditional hybrids) against last year, or even a few months ago. Their availability has (for most models) been so recent.

This is excellent and uplifting news. My next car will be an electric. Once the Tesla Gen3 is released.
