If they don’t show signs of development you can be assured there will be other leases granted. And those will include ‘use it or loose it’ clauses (if the current ones don’t).

So $1.6M plus $338,000/year they can and a paper plan they can hold the area out of the market for 5 years. That is about $3.2M. There were only 5 companies ok to bid, and only to bid. I guess we will have to wait and see. But Xcel is spending a lot more ($B) to try to break up the Boulder Co, local green power movement.

Sounds very exciting….One thing about this article that I agree on and concerns me is that the lease cost is nothing compared to the existing power companies income and so it would be well worth the money for them to buy the lease and do next to nothing….time will tell….
It somehow seems to me the bid should be restricted to companies that have a proven track record with wind generation…
