CORRECTION - BIG TIME - I read that article too quickly and did not notice that the "few indians" comment was not Ms Foster's, but rather appears to have been an editor's note. I that case, I withdraw my negative (above) in-so-far as it was directed at Ms Foster's article.

Two responses to the article above :

(positive) There are definitely tribes that look upon "big solar" favourably. A San Diego example is Campo, though the local tribe is actually divided over this issue and its General Council recently voted downthe Invenergy’s Shu’luuk Wind Project. I am told that many tribes are divided over the solar question.

(negative) Ms Foster's attempt to dismiss the NATIONAL CONGRESS OF AMERICAN INDIANS, INTERTRIBAL COUNCIL OF ARIZONA and CALIFORNIA NATIVE HERITAGE COMMISSION as "a few tribespeople who are opposing “Big Clean Energy” is roughly the equivalent of calling the United Nations a few pot smoking hippies. I expect much more from a journalist.

Two documents were cited close to the opening of the article she is attempting to dismiss (http://cleantechnica.com/2013/08/22/is-the-us-department-of-the-interior-committing-cultural-genocide-and-ecocide/) and there were links to both.
PLEASE Read them.

Resolution #LNK-12-036 of the NATIONAL CONGRESS OF AMERICAN INDIANS (Please note the word National, which denotes the fact this congress represents the collective tribes in the United States of America) "TITLE: Opposing the Department of Interior Fast-track Policies of Renewable Energy Projects on Ancestral Homelands" http://www.ncai.org/attachments/Resolution_OeIuFtIdSkFGLegasHKxpZbfgoapAICtwAXhfibMxwXRmxVyELi_LNK-12-036.pdf

Resolution 0212 of the Intertribal Council of Arizona (in the document it says there are 20 tribes) http://www.blm.gov/pgdata/etc/medialib/blm/ca/pdf/palmsprings/rio_mesa.Par.22883.File.dat/Colorado_Tribe_ResolutionSubmittal_Blythe.pdf

I also pointed readers to a report of the April 22, 2013 session in which the the California Native American Heritage Commission recognized the 12,000 acre Ocotillo Wind Project site as a sacred Native American cultural landscape and burial ground. http://www.sandiegolovesgreen.com/nahc-recognize-ocotillo-wind-farm-site-as-native-american-sacred-site/

In addition to these documents, I also wrote up some interviews I had with some of the Native American Leaders who are opposing industrial scale solar projects going onto their sacred sites (primarily in the Colorado River area).

You cannot, with integrity, dismiss this as "a few tribespeople who are opposing “Big Clean Energy”
