It’s misleading because it could lead one to think that there is no solar potential in OK or Miss when, apparently, the problem is a vastly underdeveloped installation industry.

Break those two costs apart.

That would show people business opportunities.

i take that as *not* being misleading, since they are incorporating the high cost of solar in some states (relative to others where there’s an actual solar industry of sorts).

The Geosteller Solar Index is interesting. But I think it might be misleading.

They are creating a number based on amount of sunlight, system efficiency and cost of installation. What they apparently end up doing is wiping out high solar potential (lots of solar hours) with high installation costs in states that don’t have a decent installation industry.

Compare the yellow portions of the bars for several states. Oklahoma (#44) has more solar potential than does New York (#3).
