That was just a guess based on the assumption a day price would be much higher than a week price. I think the daily price might actually be about $600 for the first 100 miles. Maybe $2/mile after that. And then insurance and such on top of that. So you try to drive 300 miles and it would probably be $1000…

It is not completely clear but they may mean an affiliated dealer of the rental company, if so they may be referring to the option of buying the rental vehicle if you like it and the discount would be the cost of the rental removed from the purchase price.
Second hand Teslas can be bought from a dealer.

Pretty cool – I checked out their website and the Tesla is listed. Out of curiosity I tried plugging in a week-long rental for the end of July and it was $3300 for the week! Not cheap.
