She should be here explaining about how although she supports electric cars this proves beyond any doubt that EVs are just toys and Tesla will go bankrupt and Solyndra shows all green tech are scams and the government can’t pick winners and losers and shouldn’t be providing subsides except for oil gas coal and nukes for reasons that totally have nothing to do them being rich and powerful and blah-dee-blah-dee-blah…

So where is she? Unless she got downsized by the Koch Bros?

That was the 40kwh, and they honored what orders they got by giving them a 60kwh vehicle software limited to 40kwh. So in the future those 40kwh owners can simply pay the difference and Tesla can remotely unlock the full 60kwh, a very good deal.

Will be very interesting to see how many people who have had their car a week or two decide to upgrade to the top range and performance loaner vehicle. I suspect a lot bought the 60kwh thinking it would be a commuter vehicle but may well want the P85 for better roadtrip capabilities.

If they do it as Elon laid out before you will actually get a fully equipped loaner no matter what configuration of the Model S you have and if you wish you can keep the loaner (paying the difference of course).

Unlike Chrysler who has been fighting issuing a recall and repair for their vehicles which have been burning people up in accidents when hit from the rear.

Shows massive corporate smarts on the part of Tesla to me. Don’t screw around, get out in front of a problem before it becomes a real problem. Fix it. Treat your customers like customers you’d like to keep around for repeated business.

I find this news positive. It shows Tesla is growing up.

There was never a question as to whether Tesla would have to do a recall. All manufacturers do, no exceptions. It was only a question of when would be the first one.

This is not a very serious or costly issue and they didn’t wait for customers to discover the problem but acted proactively and professionally.
