California Electric Car Rebates Mapped (Interactive!)
California is one heck of an electric car leader, and not just because it’s home to Le Tesla. See the stats below, as well as this, this, this, this, and this post. (Though, I have to admit, it’s not all good news.) Anyway, check out this EV Obsession post below for some info on the cool map tracking California’s EV progress and some EV fun facts, and be super thankful that the state is also making a strong shift to solar power.
Maps. Electric vehicles. Interactive. What’s not to love!
The California Center for Sustainable Energy (CCSE), which administers California’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP), has created a cool new map that shows were plug-in electric vehicles (whose owners have received rebates) are located.
The map is supposed to help policymakers, utilities, the auto industry, and others in their quest to conquer the world… um, I mean, help the plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) revolution move along in California.
California dominates the US PEV market. It’s where about 35% of US PEV sales occur. Each month, about 2,300 people apply for a PEV rebate. Notably, about 2,300 (coincidental number) Chevy Volts were sold in California before the car became eligible for the rebate (which was in February 2012). As of the end of 2012, about 2.5% of all car sales in California were for EVs.
But anyway, just go ahead and play with the map!
