If it’s a carbon tax, then, in order to have ANY credibility, it needs to support clean energy research and development for the CHEAP.

Merely “paying off the debt” with money that should go for the newly emergent machine automation of wind, solar and storage is totally taking away from the industrialism required to pay off the debt.
