Texas should also be #1 solar (their solar resource is almost as good as the sahara desert), but they have close to none. That’s purely political.

I’m all for setting a subsidy equal to the price of natural gas fired power. Since gas can burn when it’s needed and wind tends to blow when it is not, that seems generous.
