Good article and great news! Wish they were leveling the playing field by getting rid of subsidies all together (and yes, MLP is a subsidy as it simply avoids taxation that all other corporations have to pay), but at least the field is leveling.

The advantage of solar MLP’s is that unlike fossil fuels MLP’s that can run out of resources, and lose value, the Sun ought to be shining for a very long time.

To get to the end we generally have to use the means available.

That’s only a problem when the means are nasty. Structuring the tax code so that renewables get the same treatment as fossil fuels doesn’t seem like a nasty thing to me.

BTW, limited partnerships are generally open to everyone. Get some bucks together and invest in the energy you think best. You might not end up being a fat cat but you might get to spend your latter years as a slightly pudgy one….

Yes, that pesky Production Tax Credit. The MLPs all have assets that contribute real unsubsidized earnings. So we’re going to extend the PTC so that “the fat cat bankers” can make a buck? Ends justify the means, right?
