Sweet – will be cool to see how this all goes. Building a bunch of energy neutral homes (or even negative) and retrofitting many to be low power would be great.

Take the house load off the grid and replace it with an EV. As tech improves, make the homes negative enough to power the EV as well and only use the grid for backup/to sell extra power!

Wow… gotta hand it to them Danes!

Second, if we want to get rid of Coal power plants and they can’t get support for regulating carbon, why don’t they just regulate particulate matter and mercury emissions to the point that Coal is unprofitable? The EPA already has that power to my knowledge… am I missing something?

The Japanese battery is pretty good news too – although I’m a bit surprised they didn’t go with distributed storage… but even if they find they can have significantly more renewable energy generation without the need for storage, adding storage only pushes that limit higher! (plus gives them a research advantage on understanding the best way to incorporate storage into a massive grid!)

The SheaXero homes are also very cool – we need to make this the new norm!

“SolarCity and Shea/Trilogy are introducing a Retrofit Program to existing homeowners ” – any chance you know if this is more than solar panels? The wording in the article suggests it could be more, but only discusses solar panels.
