They long ago decided to appeal to those who like the outdoorsy image but don’t care about actual green features. They turned their relatively green station wagons into burly, elevated quasi-SUVs, all of which, including this hybrid, have had poor fuel economy.

They abandoned the green market segment and have yet to return to it.
