Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, hit the ground running this past week in Switzerland, laying out some very ambitious plans to get a slice of the European electric vehicle car market.

While attending the Geneva Auto Show, Musk said Europeans will see the Model S, which won the 2013 Motor Trend Car of the Year, “no later than July” as manufacturing will start one month earlier.

Meanwhile, Tesla is also working hard to enhance the experience for European consumers, including a prepaid system for charging, along with a Supercharger Network. The proposed Supercharger Network will help drivers who are going on long drives charge their Tesla vehicles for free, Musk said.

He also noted during the question and answer session that a lot of the regulation work has been done, and the work on the Supercharger Network will be done in three stages.

If that was not already enough to water the mouths of Tesla fans, their upcoming car, the Model X, also appeared at the show (see video).

“This is going to be a car that’s quite revolutionary in the SUV and mini-van segment for people,” Musk said.

The Model X will have a dual motor wheel drive a feature which can allow drivers to switch from back to front motors in challenging situations, including on icy patches.

Tesla is trying to take a share of the lucrative European market. It’s expected by decade’s end that 827,000 will hit the European roads, according to a report released earlier this year. In 2012 alone 5,663 EV’s were sold alone in France, showing the firm demand for green vehicles across the pond.

While Tesla recently had a false black eye due to the New York Times controversy, I would expect the Model S to have a welcome reception across the Atlantic early this year.
