Beautiful? Yes. Supercar? Yes. Hybrid? Yes! Ferrari has finally unveiled the hybrid supercar we’ve been speculating about for the past year or so — “LaFerrari.” (Or, as Jo Borras of Gas2 describes it, “the company’s all-conquering, 963 hp KERS-equipped made-by-Ferrari hybrid hunk of rolling sculpture… and it is (if you’ll pardon the op-ed) f***ing gorgeous.”)

Another gorgeous, green-ish car for the 0.01%.

Here’s an official video from Ferrari:

As Nicholas noted when writing about the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG electric supercar, some of the technology used in the LaFerrari may trickle down to electric vehicles for normal folk. I know, that is completely satisfactory consolation for the fact that you and I will probably never even touch a LeFerrari (other than perhaps a Hotwheels version).

But hey, let’s not forget, Ferrari has also rolled out some wicked high-speed trains that kick the LeFarrari’s butt (imho), and that we can one day… (actually, yeah, we’ll probably never touch those, either).

In complete seriousness, I’m very happy that Ferrari has made its latest supercar a hybrid. It would have been nicer if the car was 100% electric, like the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG electric supercar or Exagon Furtive-eGT, but it’s still progress. And my guess is that it will get more people to go hybrid, or even 100% electric.
