"A bill might have a chance after 2014 depending on how the elections go, but right now nothing passes through Congress, not even the universally liked and bipartisan measures." -- Sad, but true.

Great bit in Obama's Fireside Hangout about even a basic nomination -- of someone who who was praised by George H.W. Bush's national security advisor, by Colin Powell, and was a member of the Republican caucus, etc., etc. -- getting filibustered. Absurd. Here's that bit: http://youtu.be/kp_zigxMS-Y?t=39m27s

The Siren Song of coal is hard to resist. It's very abundant and cheap to burn and cheap electricity helps your economy grow. But the costs start catching up to you with pollution, mass water usage and water waste, mining accidents, supply fluctuations, etc. The biggest blackout in the history of humanity was caused by a coal shortage in India, and governments took note.
