I think you'll find, in general, a somewhat hopeful, somewhat optimistic community here.

Not that many/any of us think we can escape climate change. We've already changed our climate and it appears that we are already paying a price with higher rates of extreme weather events.

But most of us do think that there's a good chance to avoid the worst of what could happen if we do nothing.

We're looking for solutions to help us transition away from fossil fuels. Join in.

You are welcome, my friend. No I don't have a web site. I was able to publish my screeds at the Doomstead Diner along with several short pieces in the "waste Based Society" comments area. I also designed a solar oven made of wood with cardboard insulation, reflective film mirrors and a glass top (max operating temperature 300 degrees F). It is downloadable in 3D free at the 3D warehouse and viewable on the Google Sketchup free software. I have not actually built it yet, however. Getting back to the Doomstead Diner, I stopped posting there because they are too negative about what they call "Hopium" (i.e. any article that promotes hope in the future) and, frankly, it was bringing me down. They mostly don't agree with my view that technology can solve our problems because they feel that any new efficiency will be quickly absorbed and we will be back to eating up our biosphere "seed corn" as we are currently doing. I agree that a paradigm attitude change is required with humanity at an equal footing with the rest of the species here at the energy use biosphere table but technology is a big part of that solution. A lot of the Doomstead Diners want to cull humanity and return us to the hunter gatherer stage which is not a solution, as far as I'm concerned. It's a rather depressing outlook and it finally got to me so, even though that is the only place my articles are parked and I am greatful to them for their respect of free speech, I can't deal with there full frontal negativity 24/7.
My biggest beef with modern technology is the ICE (internal combustion engine). The amount of heat those things put out is never discussed at environmental web sites. The inefficiency of the ICE is mentioned at many places and increasing its efficiency and burning hydrogen instead of gasoline to reduce pollution is brought up but I think that isn't enough to stop the massive heat that is building up. My view is that electric motors must replace the ICE everywhere to solve our problem of about 82% of the energy expended to run billions of ICEs every second of every day going straight into the atmosphere and doing NOTHING to actually convert kinetic energy to mechanical energy. So there you have it. If there is anything I can do to help you, just let me know. I'm retired from the FAA and have a scientific education (just short of a BS with a major in biology).

Thank you Zachary. I am honored by your reply and greatful for your tireless advocacy of renewables. You give me hope for a better future. I give you permission to use anything I have written with or without attribution. The important thing for me is to get the word out on how we have been gamed by the fossil and nuclear fuel people. I also wrote an article on how the gaming of the laws on oil tanker safety has allowed an immense amount of ocean water to be polluted and contributed to the Exxon Valdez disaster by delaying double hull required construction. It is posted in the "Waste Based Society" area of the Doomstead Diner web site.
Thanks again for your tenacity.

Great argument for a carbon tax right there... Somehow I don't see the whole battle he was talking about though- RE will win. Nothing short of outlawing RE will change that as it just makes to much sense in the long run. By 2020 I expect RE to be so much cheaper than Fossil fuels that you'd be crazy to even think of using FFs in all but the most extreme cases...

I wrote an article exposing the EROEI (energy return on energy invested) lies of the fossil and nuclear fuel lobbies as Robert F. Kennedy is obviously aware of. The article is entitled, "Hope For A Viable Biosphere; Renewables, Why They Work and Fossil and Nuclear Fuels NEVER DID". Just google the title and you will find the link.
Thank you
