What are your thoughts about this new hand pump machine?

It operates the same pump cylinder system used for a 12 foot diameter windmill and pumps 6 gallons a minute. No hand pump in the world can do this!

If you’re referring to the rockers, they’re nothing but a way of equalizing the work required for the upstroke and downstroke. They aren’t DOING that work. You will notice a tank of gas and a gasoline engine, or an electrical feed and motor, driving them.

The Serbian inventor’s machine, which ought to be powering the entire planet for nothing by now, was immediately laughed out of town when it was posted four years ago. Posting stuff like this makes the poster look silly and gullible; please stay away from touting energy-magnifying devices, because there aren’t any. If we’re talking about reducing friction losses, two numbers will tell the story: the energy efficiency of a hand pump and that of this marvelous pendulum pump. Hint: both numbers must be between 0 and 1. You get out the work you put in, minus resistance losses. Forget “outcome”; this word has no meaning in physics or engineering.

Are those in less use now than they once were? I remember news shows discussing oil and showing fields of dozens of those for stock footage–very mesmerizing. Now they often show the drilling process.

Sorry to nitpick, but can we finally, please!, move away from the term ‘Third World” and use the more correct terms of “Under-Developed/ Developing/ Developed Nations”.

We no longer use the term “Global Warming”, instead we use “Climate Change” – the same level of responsible nomenclature applies to human society. Both are more formal, proper, professional, and accurate to where they apply.
