ha, no. saw it, but was apparently wiped from my memory — going through thousands of stories a month occasionally has that effect on me.

Don’t get too excited.

The “282mpg A1 e-tron” is described in the current issue of the Audi Magazine as having four driving modes:

1.) Electric mode.

2.) Serial mode.

3.) Combined mode.

4.) Conventional mode.

In electric mode the 3-cylinder 1.5-litre TFSI engine is “deactivated”. It doesn’t say how far the car can travel in this mode, unsurprisingly.

In the other three modes the 130ps petrol engine is reactivated, of course.

Anyone care to guess which modes you’d use to get the claimed 282mpg?
