Costs for cars abound: car down payment $$$, car payment $$, insurance, license fees, license plate fees, city/township sticker fees, parking fees, gas, maintenance/wear and tear $, etc. , etc, etc. Then there’s the healthcare cost$$$.

Public transportation is a great way to save on expenses. If you don’t have access in your area though, you can still save money by offering a spot in your vehicle to another passenger in exchange for a few dollars to cover expenses, or pay someone else to let you ride with them. It’s not quite as good as public transportation, but for areas that lack the infrastructure, it’s a decent way to reduce costs without waiting for your local government to build a light rail.
