The driver for renewables investment going to Asia is China.  Its huge industrial boom of 
the past few decades has been literally fuelled by coal and the country now consumes nearly 
50% of the world&#039;s mined coal and will run out in 30 years.

Long story short: they need a replacement for coal, and fast.

The US, on the other hand, is lacking a similar urgency to develop renewable alternatives.  That&#039;s not to say the investment isn&#039;t there, or the quality of the project ... but in terms of sheer volume of opportunites China is winning hands down.]]></description>
