Look, i made some mad calculations based in some 2007/2008 datas and i found out that:

A flight from Rio de Janeiro to Miami would consume something around 45 football pitches of sugar kane.

This 45 pitches are 86.000 Liters of Etanol (For regular cars, not air planes... this was something i couldn't find anywhere)

Jet fuel efficiency is 3,1liter/passanger/100Km

Distante beetween the two cities is 6662Km

Sugar Kane Productivity was about 3,18595Kg/m3 (2008 data)

12Kg of Sugar Kane are nedded to make 1 liter of Etanol (car)
