i hear great things about diesel, and trust your judgement. don’t know enough about the details of diesel at this point to do more than trust the experts i know (e.g. the diesel lovers over on Gas2)

My old Passat was pretty good. I could get just sub 70mpg without really trying. Alas the injectors failed catastrophically, and needed to be replaced. Hence I still reallllly want an EV, because I’m kind of sick of huge bills for mechanics.

I saw your post on the Ev’s and for short travel they are great, but I still like diesel for long distance driving. VW has a diesel-electric hybrid in the pipeline to be dubbed the “cross coupe’ that is rated, as I recall, around 150 MPG (but I think that that may be an imperial gal so take 20% off of that number if that’s the case) With fuel from algae and mileage numbers like that we could be on our way to a brighter day.
