Governor’s Wind Energy Coalition rocks: “The Governors’ Wind Energy Coalition is a bipartisan group of the nation’s governors who are dedicated to the development of the nation’s wind energy resources to meet America’s domestic energy demands in an environmentally responsible manner—while reducing the nation’s dependence on imported energy sources and stimulating state and national economic development.”

& announces new leadership: “The Governors’ Wind Energy Coalition announced Monday that Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber would take over as chairman and vice chairman of the group, which is focused on communicating the benefits of wind energy and lobbying the federal government to extend the production tax credit.”

First Wind Scholars program awards 16 scholarship grants: “students from sixteen high schools across the country will be awarded a scholarship through the company’s signature First Wind Scholars program. The 2012 recipients were selected from the program’s most competitive pool in its three-year history, and represented project host communities in Hawaii, Maine, New York, Utah, Vermont and Washington and the company’s Boston headquarters. A total of $65,000 in scholarship dollars will be distributed.”

Siemens receives 1st Chile wind turbine order: “Siemens Energy has received an order for a total of 50 wind turbines with a combined capacity of 115 megawatts (MW) for the El Arrayan wind power plant in Chile. This wind project will be developed as a joint venture between Pattern Energy and AEI, two leading independent energy companies developing projects in Chile because of its great potential for sustainable energy development and its strong investment climate…. Installation of the project is scheduled to begin in spring 2013, with commissioning of the wind power plant planned for early 2014.”
