There seems to be some confusion between cost and price here. Adding storage will always increase the cost of solar, but delaying delivery of power to the grid until prices are higher increases the price. The real question at the end of the day is does this make solar more affordable?
Yes, the value to the grid is increased and no, the average cost per watt also goes up. Since massive amounts of storage are necessary to get beyond around 1/3 of capacity for wind and solar in an economically realistic way, this is a step in the right direction, but you still need large amounts of fossil reserves for those occasional multi-day windless cloudy days.
