Oh yeah, on a side note, I got a bit of a thrill last Thursday too. As I was entering the headquarters compound of the international electronics giant I sometimes work at, a flatbed truck was just leaving, on which was sitting a neat little light blue sports car. As I passed by it, I saw the logo on the back: "Tesla". Sweet! I guess they'd been doing some research or promotional stuff with it. I wish I could've taken a photo, but the truck was gone before I got a chance.

Here in Osaka, I've recently noticed that the Prius is, almost literally, *EVERYWHERE*. Once I learned to recognize them, I started counting them (it's become quite the obsession with me recently), and I can easily spot 3-6 per minute from a busy street corner. Several taxi companies are running them too.

Yesterday's count was 51, after probably about an hour total on the street.

I occasionally count other hybrids too, but they tend to be harder to distinguish from the more conventional cars, so it's about 90% Prius right now.

I dont see how, with new batteries improving efficiency within 2 or 3 years and other manufacturers jumping into the hybrid/ev market, that we dont see sales jumping to at least over 10% of total sales by 2015.
