When most people talk about electric vehicles, they are referring to vehicles such as these — often from mainstream automakers. There is another whole family of electric vehicles out there that is often overlooked — Low Speed Vehicles (LSVs), Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs), and Street Legal Golf Carts, not to mention electric vehicles designed specifically for commercial applications. In fact, the bulk of commercial vehicles in use today are actually used for commercial applications!

These vehicles aren’t flashy and they don’t look like they’re from outer space. They are just good, solid means of transportation that are environmentally-friendly, economical to operate, and fun to drive. And they are in use now, all over the world, in neighborhoods and factories, at sports venues and entertainment complexes, on college and retirement community campuses. From security vehicles and EMS vehicles to delivery trucks and electric shuttles, the variations are endless.

We think the economy and the environment would benefit from more education about these types of vehicles.
