The connector looks good. I guess that for straight l2 charge on a l3-capable charger, the gun's lower assembly can be made to fold out of the way or retract. So you end up with a l3 charger with 2 "hoses" - one for CHAdeMO and another for this 1772+

California has moved ahead with a plan to install 200 Quick Charge stations as part of a settlement agreement with NRG on old lawsuits. These will be Chademo chargers, until there are chargers (and vehicles) on the market that support the SAE standard, at which point the Quick Chargers will have dual heads

Nobody is waiting for Americans to lead on electric vehicles and California isn't standing still. Since California has been the number one market for electric vehicles, with roughly half of total sales, this is fairly significant.

Europe is planning to start using the combo connector in 2017. There are hundreds of CHAdeMO chargers in Europe now. I'd estimate that there will be thousands of CHAdeMO chargers by 2017. Currently there are zero cars that use the combo connector. Remember HD-DVD? The fomat lost because there were more Blu-ray players on the market.

Fortunately, electric vehicle service equipment (evse) manufacturers aren't staking the future of their businesses on a silly plan (baby-step distribution) for vehicles that don't exist. CHAdeMO is and will be distributed and used.

Well it's about time a unified standard is implemented. Congratulations guys. We have standards for outlets, circuit breakers, wire gauge sizes and thousands of other products so we are on the right track.

This will help EVERY company and CUSTOMER transition to electric vehicles. Now if we could just get the inductive charging plates all in the same location we would be one step closer to mainstream adoption. My wife could simply drive into the garage, charging would start automatically and she would never have to touch a dirty old electric cord. Now that would be a smart selling point :-)

Well I had "Brand Name" car insurance and my rates seemed a bit high. I was nervous about switching because I had pretty good coverage. I ended up switching companies and now I have the same great coverage for a cheaper price through "Clearance Auto"
