So, they get some things right...

The short version of this is China is a member of the WTO and get the benefits of being a member. But does not do it part. It is playing the part of a economic bully. China has declared a trade war on Europe and the US. Sadto say, but maybe the only way this will change would be for Europe and the US to stand back to back and say.
1) China let the value your currency float
2) Switch from you current WTO outlawed supply side manipulation to demand side support.
3) There is likely more but those are two really big steps
If China will not do this the we (Europe/US) will impose large tarrifs on all products or part import from China. Yes if China did not agree it would be a trade war, but we already have one it is just one sided.

I have a dozen quotes for installing 4KWp of solar PV in the garden.

Those using imported Chinese panels are about £2k less than the systems that are 'Made in Wales'.

If it had any gumption the government would design grants to, at least in part, level the playing field. Good for the local economy, good for jobs and good for the balance of payments.

I can't see any other way around this problem. I don't think the Chinese are going to mend their ways any time soon.

I think I will opt for local manufacture and pay the premium, especially since their panels are made from recycled materials.

But how many others would make the same choice?
