India hasn't driven down modules prices, but it has driven down the cost of solar power by getting modules installed at a low price. If the figure of 15 cents a kilowatt-hour figure is accurate then that's the cheapest grid PV I know of and congratulations to India for achieving it. I did not expect to see grid solar at that price so soon.

I don't see how India can take credit for driving down module prices since it's just riding the global market value for solar modules. I'm sure there have been some very competitive bids for solar projects in India, but that's because there are now very competitive solar projects being bid out and built all over the world.

The 500mw of newly installed capacity is very impressive given the previous amount of installed capacity, but worldwide it is just a small nibble of the solar pie.

The national solar program is absolutely responsible for driving installations and building the administrative infrastructure needed to build out large scale solar, however it has had negligible affect on pricing.
