Someone needs to explain to ALEC this is not an environmental imperative it's is an economic and security imperative. The military spends approximately $300 to purchase, deliver and protect each gallon of gas delivered to a frontline unit in Iraq and Afghanistan. There have also been over 3,000 US military casualties in attacks on fuel convoys. The $300/ gallon gas runs vehicles and generators which means each kwh of electricity consumed in a frontline post costs ~$30-50.
This means that vehicle efficiency measures and renewable electricity generation at the point of use has the potential to save billions of dollars and thousands of lives in wartime.
