Ya got a point, and yet...

Let's say this technology works well and allows significant farming in urban areas. Empty lots, brownfields, rooftops, old industrial spaces. Places close to where people live.

Around here some folks are doing well with u-pick blueberries/strawberries. They would have a hard time making any money if they had to pay for labor, but the people doing their own picking get a little better price on very fresh produce and view it as a recreational "outing".

What if there was a u-pick salad farm close to your work and you could walk over during your lunch break, eat your sandwich, and pick some fresh stuff for dinner the next few nights?

"U-Pick approach .... reduce fuel consumption by 90 percent"

I hope you were joking when you wrote the line. Replacing one truck with 100 visitors each driving their own car (hybrid or SUV) is definitely not the way to do....

Otherwise i really love the concept.
Lets stay as objective as possible, and be brutally honest about the pros and cons.
