I have more than a passing interest in that since I’m from Ireland. Ireland and Britain are currently building a 500MW East-West interconnector to help realise that vision. Further interconnectors possibly to France look likely in the future.

In the ‘hood…

Ireland is on the verge of becoming an exporter of wind energy. They’re looking at €6bn a year in export revenues within a decade.

This sort of wind activity is going to fuel the European super-grid. Wind, solar from the Med and hydro storage in the northern mountains makes for the basics of a unified system.

Iceland is wanting to get into the game as well….
