		<description><![CDATA[Wind energy at GE did not go into stealth mode. It just disappeared. When GE started to think about wind energy again they had to buy the knowledge. They did this by buying  the Enron wind turbine division in 2002. Before it went bankrupt Enron had bought the German firm Tacke, and used industrial espionage to steal technology from the German firm Enercon. Current GE wind turbines are still based on the old Tacke and Enercon technology. The GE turbines are not very advanced compared to Danish and German turbines, for example the largest GE turbine is 2.5 MW, where the largest European on-shore windturbine is 7MW. However, GE has been very successful in setting up a more automated production line.
