Actually it isn't a problem. When you scale out a solution you eliminate the intermittent nature of a technology like solar or wind. Germany has proven this point and changed the perception of experts who use to think that way. Now they are realizing that base load can be achieved with a grid of people supplying solar power. Look for an article titled, "Last week 50% of Germany ran on solar power." Get the facts and stop pushing inaccurate info from 10 years ago.

Please give us specific information (or point to where it has been noted before) on what companies are in the private sector for adding solar power in the mountain west, specifically for me Four Corners area...and any other alternative private power companies. Thank you!!!

I sure would like to see you back up your claims with some facts.

Seems to me you're just making stuff up.

How about starting with how Germany in scaling up nuclear?

Then, perhaps some data on Denmark scaling up power plants?

I wonder if the jobs created are at the cost of higher taxes, greate government investment or even the cost to the educational system, who need to train a new industry. We have some technology programs being cancelled because of a lack of interest, even though companies are crying for a trained workforce. The other piece to consider in Germany is the scale up of other power plants like coal/nuclear/hydro. This is the problem in Denmark as the intermittent power production of renewables requires other power plants to scale up. The problem of intermittent power still has not been figured out. Unless the community is totally off the grid, this problem will remain a big problem.

Excellent post - thanks for sharing. Especially as I live in Dresden, Germany, where lots of solar technology is developed and applied it is good to read a different perspective.
