Now, I’d like to help you out Jonah. I’m willing to bet that you’re capable of improving yourself.

I’d suggest you stop listening to right wing radio and stay far away from Fox. Start reading a wider range of ideas and start thinking for yourself. You needn’t go all the way to the left to find out what is actually happening in the world, just moving to the center would be a great start.

President Obama laid out a plan to eliminate the national deficit so that we could start paying down the national debt. (Of course to make this happen would require a Congress willing to work for rather than against America.)

President Obama raised the fleet mileage for US cars. That will make our oil supply last much longer. We’re shutting down about 10% of our existing coal plants and building no more. We’re turning off other coal plants when renewables give us the power we need. That will extend our supply of coal. (It’s not like the baby jeebus is making more of this stuff at a high rate.)

Soon after President Obama came to office the job loss problem left to us by the Bush administration was turned around and we have been generating new jobs every month for some time now. Unemployment is starting to drop. If Republicans would help we could get people back to work even faster.

The GM layoff is most likely due to the right-wing campaign to misrepresent the Volt battery fire incident. Another example of the right-wing noise machine cranking out lies and their followers sucking them up.

But don’t worry, 2013 Volt prices will be lower because battery prices have fallen. And the battery-only range may be increased. Volts will do just fine. Good American cars, built in America, by American union labor.

Fact is he’s on a spending mission and trying to neglect fossil fuels at our expense. We can’t afford it and you are going to realize this soon enough. When bread is $20/loaf.

Layoff of the week – 1300 fine folks at GM because the Chevy Volt isn’t selling.

Like the volt, we can’t afford wind, solar, kelp, wave, ethanol, etc, etc.

The first two paragraphs are from Freshman Senator Obama in a 16 March 2006 speech.

The last paragraph is, in fact, pulled from a February 2009 speech in which President Obama called for a significant cut to the deficit and asked Republicans in Congress to help him meet that goal.

It was part of a meeting purposed to get everyone on track to fix our economic problems and to open it President Obama laid out the basics of a plan which would have accomplished the goal he set.

As you know, Republicans refused to do anything to help President Obama in their openly stated goal to make him a one term president. Even if it harmed the United States.

If you recall the deficit soared under President Bush from $0.16 trillion in 2007 to $1.41 trillion in 2009. And President Bush left the next administration with two unfunded wars along with a damaged income stream created by cutting taxes on the very wealthy.

Since then we’ve brought the deficit down slightly to about $1.3 trillion but since Congress controls the purse strings and refuses to require the very rich pay a fair share we haven’t made much progress on getting it down lower.

President Obama won’t meet his goal of cutting the deficit in half by the end of his first term. Republicans have made that a certainty.

President Obama hasn’t been able to close Gitmo either. Congress blocked that one as well.

At what point do we start pointing our fingers at the real villains?
