I mentioned California’s new clean car standards in a “Clean Links” roundup earlier this week. However, if you missed that or want more details, here’s a bit of an op-ed from sister site Gas2 (those guys know cars) on the new standards. Following this post, Chris wrote a post on an important loophole in the standards, issues that would cause, and more thoughts on the standards. That one is embedded/reposted below as well.

    i expect that by 2020 50% will be electric. gas prices (in holland) are at record hight and the ev’s get better month by month. at this moment most rides can be perfectly done with an electric car. only long trips are a problem but the chargers get faster and more available fast.
    so i’m optimistic.
    and the speed will surprise us , no one expceted the mobile phone to be everywhere so fast, or the smart phone or internet etc…
