Motor Free of Rare Earth Metals from Toyota?

Rare earth metals are not, by definition, rare (even though it sounds that way). Though, some are harder to come by than others and some countries (especially China) have essential monopolies on some. So, reducing dependency on these metals is important for cleantech (as well as non-cleantech) companies. Toyota’s well aware of that, and is working on it:
