CORRECTION. 1 Imperial gallon = 1.2 times 1 US gallon. So the true comparison is – my old banger does over 50 miles per US gallon. So the point still applies, but to a lesser degree.

That’s what happens when you don’t check stuff you read on the net!

The problem with car manufacturers seems to be their obsession with making cars, which hog roads,pollute and carry a few number of passengers. Its about time they put their fossil soaked brains to work on public transport like electric buses and commercial vehicles. Why this silly obsession with 0-100mph in 6 seconds. No one is that silly to try to outrun Schumacher on a busy city street. Let us hope better sense prevails. I am going to buy an old Ford car , prefrably a Tin Lizzie and fit with Lithium batteries and LEDs! That is exactly what these gooks are doing now.

Only 45??? Mr Pogue was able to do better than 200 mpg back in the 30’s with a normal size vehicle, had he had a Jetta, how many could he
may have done? 250, 300?
I let you figure it, but I am not impressed.

Volkswagen cars are notorious for electrical problems. Getting an all-electric from them just boggles my mind.

45 mpg? Is that a misprint? The European market would rate that a failure.

My 11 year old Audi 1.4TD does over 60 mpg and that was designed more than 15 years ago.

Does this count as progress in the automotive industry?
