Manufacturers will go where they can produce for the least amount of money and maximize their profits. No one disputes that.

Plants move to all sorts of places where people will work for less salary and fewer or no benefits. And that's going to continue until we somewhat even out incomes around the globe. At some point workers get tired of being screwed and demand more. That's happening now in China.

Eventually where manufacturing is done will be dependent more on the cost of energy and the cost of shipping raw materials and finished goods to/from the plants. We're already seeing some manufacturing drift back to the US due to shipping costs.

Tax concessions are just stupid. We're racing to see which state can get to the bottom first.

So what total labor, insurance and benifits cost the compay is not an issue, only what the worker takes home!!! Cost is cost, maybe if they factor efficiency into the equation, then it may be double, but that, I agree is opinion!!!

Please, then in your infinite wisdom of finance, explain to me why, oh why, Not one, but Many Non US Auto companies and even a Brazilian Aircraft company, are building Shiny New Plants in the Southeastern United States!!!!!!

So you think they are Not strategically locating in Non Union, low Tax Zones??

I live in Puerto Rico, and there are a world of Big Pharma & Microsoft down here as the Islands major employers, all because of tax concessions!!!

Stockholders, do hold companies responsible for turning a profit and giving a return, they do Not just invest to say they own GM Stock!!!

Thanks

Zach, we are working on large WTE projects in the Caribbean and I really enjoy this paper and all of the factual data on New Technology! What I am not sure of, is the left leaning opinions, on what is good or bad for the U S based on if Unions are happy with it, when Labor Unions are what drove Industry to outsource in foreign Countries, as evidenced by all of the Foreign Car makers who are building Auto Plants in the South, in Non Union States. Why would you not post that information, surely with all of your degrees from Southern Schools, like Florida & UNC, you know about Benze, Toyota, BMW, Kia all buiding New Plants and employing people, while the Rust Belt Labor Union people are upset that they cant make $75/hr for telling the company what they will and will not do!
Facts are great on the Internet, Opinions are great for Facebook!!! Thanks Keith
