    Politics.

    Not only here in the US, but I’ve encountered it in some UK writers. Self-identified conservatives push back against EVs and renewable energy because supporting these technologies means that “the hippies win”.

    NIce list of reasons. But you could add the fact that even if *all* the electricity used by and EV were from coal it would still be at least as efficient CO2 wise as burning gasoline. Large power plants are simply much more efficient than small mobile ones. Enough so to make up for transmission line and battery losses.

    Peak oil may not be coming, but the cost of oil will only ever increase, forever. Green electricity goes down in price over time.

      Yep, as it gets harder and harder to pump out of the ground, it’s going to get more expensive. My grandfather was “Chief Excavation Geologist” for Exxon when he retired a number of years ago, for the whole US except California & Alaska — he said a few years ago when i saw him, “The bottom line is, we just got spoiled [on cheap oil/gas].”
