IIRC, Houston is one of the target markets for the Nissan Leaf, one of a few places where it is being sold initially.

Don’t forget, Texas has a lot of installed wind generation and they’re about to start on offshore wind installations. Wind has been bringing down the cost of electricity in Texas and they should have no trouble charging EVs late at night when supply is high and demand low.

Nissan just announced that they have reworked their rapid charger and been able to bring the price down to less than 50% of the previous price. They plan on starting sales of their improved, less expensive chargers in November.
